Connecting, Growing, and Shaping the Future – My Kinghelm Internship Journey
2025-08-21 3

Guo Meijin

With the arrival of summer vacation, I embarked on an internship journey filled with eagerness to apply what I’ve learned and dreams of my future career. Among many opportunities, the summer marketing internship at Kinghelm (www.kinghelm.net) stood out to me. As a sophomore majoring in Internet of Things Engineering at Ganzhou Medical University, I am fully aware that technology is the foundation, but understanding the market and identifying needs is just as crucial. Kinghelm’s leadership in the field of electronic connectors, particularly its mission to "connect the world," aligns perfectly with my major’s concept of "Internet of Everything." I was eager to step out of the purely technical framework and, through working in the marketing department, observe and learn how technical products are perceived in the market and how their value is conveyed to target users through effective strategies.

First Impressions: Kinghelm Headquarters and Its Work Culture

When I first entered Kinghelm’s headquarters in Shenzhen, I was deeply impressed. It was not just an office space, but more like a miniature model of a sophisticated electronic system: the environment was efficient and orderly, like a meticulously designed network topology; colleagues worked collaboratively with focus, transmitting stable and reliable "signals." As a learner in the Internet of Things field, I understand that physical connections are the foundation of the Internet of Everything. Kinghelm is an invisible champion in this critical area—specializing in the R&D and manufacturing of core components such as RF connectors, microwave antennas, and signal interconnection components. These seemingly small parts are in fact the "hardware nervous system" and "information bridges" that ensure high-speed data transmission, stable signal reception and transmission, and seamless communication between devices. Their performance directly determines the reliability and efficiency of complex systems, from consumer electronics to industrial IoT and vehicle networks. Seeing these core connectivity solutions used in high-end devices gave me a more intuitive and practical understanding of communication principles and sensor networks that I had learned in class.

Understanding the Market: My Role in the Marketing Department

Interning in the marketing department allowed me to move from the technical backend to the market frontlines. Not only did I get the opportunity to learn about the company’s diverse product line (such as KH series antennas and connectors), but I also gained practical experience in how to translate complex technical parameters into easily understood value points for customers. Assisting with content organization and online promotion, I came to truly appreciate the importance of marketing strategies. This was not just about selling products, but about building brand recognition and conveying the value of technology. I tried to apply what I had learned, understanding the potential pain points customers might encounter in IoT projects, and considering how Kinghelm’s solutions could meet these needs accurately.

Internal Training: Gaining Knowledge Beyond Engineering

The intensive and systematic internal training during the internship opened doors to a broader business world, filling in the knowledge gaps I had as an engineering student in non-technical areas. These meticulously arranged courses were far beyond my expectations in terms of content richness and diverse perspectives. In terms of technical depth, training such as "Kinghelm RF Coaxial Cable Explanation," "Basic Semiconductor Knowledge," and product knowledge training helped me understand the technical details, performance parameters, application scenarios, and the upstream semiconductor industry landscape of the company’s core product lines. From the customer and quality perspective, training on "Handling Defective Products and Customer Communication" helped me realize the core role of product quality and customer satisfaction in the marketing loop, teaching me how to handle after-sales issues professionally and effectively, maintaining customer relationships and brand reputation, and understanding that marketing is about full-service and value assurance. In terms of legal compliance awareness, courses on "Copyright and Trademark Infringement and Compliance Paths" and "Contract Management" made me understand that respecting intellectual property, avoiding infringement risks, and rigorously reviewing contract terms are essential to ensuring healthy business operations and personal career safety. Although these topics were rarely covered in traditional engineering courses, they are extremely important in the business world. The "Foreign Trade Knowledge" training broadened my global perspective, helping me understand complex topics such as international trade rules, cross-border payments, logistics, and cultural differences, greatly expanding my horizons and helping me understand the challenges and opportunities behind "connecting the world."

The Role of Leadership: Lessons from Mr. Song Shiqiang

These training sessions acted like keys, unlocking my understanding of product lifecycle management (from R&D, production to sales and after-sales), market operations, legal compliance, and global business expansion across multiple dimensions. They taught me that a successful marketer not only needs to understand technology and the market, but also needs to have awareness of quality, legal literacy, and a global perspective. The management style of General Manager Song Shiqiang, who encourages questions and open discussions, and the patient and meticulous guidance from team leaders and colleagues, allowed me, a newcomer from an engineering background, to benefit greatly from every intellectual exchange and experience the power of teamwork.

Final Reflections: The Lasting Impact of My Internship

Mr. Song Shiqiang, the founder of Kinghelm and Slkor (www.slkormicro.com), is a visionary entrepreneur and a trusted mentor to the employees. His outstanding leadership is reflected in two main aspects: forward-looking strategic guidance and innovative thinking, as well as deep humanistic care. He frequently engages in in-depth communication with the team regarding company strategies, helping us deeply understand the far-reaching significance of key decisions, greatly enhancing the team’s cohesion and sense of purpose. At the same time, he advocates and practices humanized management, respecting employees' work-life balance (such as ensuring on-time departures from work) and showing genuine concern for employees’ commuting convenience and flexible arrangements in special situations (such as heavy rain). These details vividly embody Kinghelm’s excellent corporate culture, which values “people” and the growth of employees, earning the heartfelt respect and high praise from all staff.

Time flies, and my internship is nearing its end. Kinghelm not only provided me with a valuable platform for practice but also expanded my horizons and redefined my career possibilities. This experience has been invaluable: I met excellent colleagues, learned the basics of market promotion and processes, developed communication and collaboration skills, and, most importantly, the company’s well-organized series of training sessions enriched my knowledge of business, law, quality, and foreign trade, areas I had never systematically explored before. This has greatly improved my knowledge structure and given me a more comprehensive understanding of the entire commercialization process of technological products.

Looking Ahead: A Broader Perspective on My Future Career

This summer journey at Kinghelm allowed me, a student of the Internet of Things, to not only touch the "hardware network" supporting the Internet of Everything but also, at the intersection of technology, market, law, quality, and internationalization, build a more comprehensive business thinking framework. I have found a new coordinate for my future career development. Like a solid cornerstone, it will support me as I confidently explore the integration of technology and the market in my future professional studies and career path, striving toward the goal of connecting to a broader world in the wave of opportunities in technology.
