Song considers himself an idealist. In earlier years, he focused on acquiring technical knowledge; today, he focuses on understanding his own mind. Life, in this sense, becomes an ongoing exercise in mental discipline.

He described this discipline as a process of removing unhelpful habits, cultivating focus, and developing insight through observation and reflection. Viewing events from the perspective of life itself, and remaining attentive to the feelings of those around us, allows for greater empathy and clarity.

Song also spoke of quiet acts of kindness carried out without expectation or recognition. He believes that genuine generosity leaves no trace of giver, gift, or receiver, and that accepting impermanence in the external world allows one to simplify life. Letting go, he said, is both a mindset and a skill that requires continual practice.

Since adopting a vegan lifestyle, he noted, his respect for life has deepened. Encounters in life, he added, are not accidental but rooted in connection and opportunity. “To meet is already a form of fate,” Song said. “What remains is to learn how to cherish it and treat it with kindness.”
